PRODUCT TREATMENT DESCRIPTION:

Bactilex treatment for bacterial Infection is effective in treating individual specimens in a separate tank. Treatment of superficial bacterial infections including: Fin Rot, Saddle-back, Mouth Fungus and other conditions caused by mycobacteria such as flexibacter columnaris in ornamental freshwater fish.

DIAGNOSIS GUIDE:

Physical and behavioural signs and symptoms: Fin-rot: A progressive deterioration of the tail and/or fins. Fins become frayed or their colour may fade.

Saddleback:  It almost looks as though your fish is wearing a small horse saddle – this is why you sometimes hear columnaris referred to as Saddleback disease. Columnaris can also start as a mouth infection.

Mouth Fungus: (otherwise known as mouth rot): It is caused by Flavobacterium bacteria and is especially common in newly imported fish. In the early stages of infection, you’ll probably notice off-white marks around the mouth, fins and body.

PRIMARY CAUSES:

Fungal diseases. Cotton wool disease, mouth rot, fin rot, and body fungus are often a secondary infection due to an open wound or damaged scales caused by aggression from other fish in the aquarium (either fighting or when breeding). Damage caused by handling such as netting fish.
