Objective of the Position:
This role at Jungle Aquatics aims to provide top-tier customer service while achieving and surpassing sales targets. An ideal candidate will be equipped with aquarium expertise, ensuring the maintenance and cleanliness of all fish tanks, ponds, and related equipment. They should also efficiently process orders, optimize resources, and contribute towards the operational efficiency of the establishment.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
• Ensuring continuous, quick, and precise service to maximize customer satisfaction.
• Achieving and exceeding sales targets.
• Merchandising to enhance sales.
• Maintaining and cleaning all fish tanks and ponds.
• Maintenance of equipment.
• Assisting with order processing for the online store.
• Preparing and packing online orders.
• Unboxing and restocking new inventory.
• Pricing items and assisting customers in fish selection.
• Regular feeding of fish and invertebrates.
• Executing daily water changes as necessary.
• Participating in general cleaning duties (vacuuming, mopping, etc.).
• Lifting and relocating heavy items.

Potential Additional Responsibilities:
• Engaging in training opportunities.
• Offering sales advice to clients.
• Purchasing supplies for the store as required.
• Assisting in setting up tanks for clients.
• Maintenance of display tanks and in-store setups.
• Contributing to social media content and YouTube videos.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
• Comprehensive knowledge of various fish species including marine, tropical, cichlids, cold-water, koi, etc.
• Familiarity with small animals like hamsters, bunnies, and birds.
• Understanding of dogs and cats.
• Awareness of all store products.
• Basic handyman skills.

Experience:
• Previous retail and sales experience with references.
• A year's experience in the pet trade is considered an advantage.

Educational Qualifications:
• Minimum of Grade 12 or NQF equivalent.
• Relevant diploma or degree is a plus.

General Requirements:
• Familiarity with the job's responsibilities.
• Residing near the store is crucial.
• Availability to work on weekends and public holidays.
• This is a temporary casual position, with potential full-time employment based on performance.

Objective of the Position:
The Assistant Manager at Jungle Aquatics plays a pivotal role, collaborating closely with the Store Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the store. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, proactive, and committed to managing staff and ensuring the completion of daily tasks. A deep-rooted experience in the Pet Trade, with an emphasis on Aquatics, is a non-negotiable prerequisite for this role.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
• Collaborating with the Store Manager in the daily operational and decision-making processes.
• Leading, training, and mentoring the staff to ensure tasks are accomplished efficiently.
• Supervising the preparation and processing of online and in-store orders.
• Maintaining the pristine condition of all fish tanks, ponds, and associated equipment.
• Overseeing merchandising to boost sales and customer experience.
• Addressing customer inquiries and complaints, ensuring utmost customer satisfaction.
• Assisting in inventory management, including restocking and pricing.
• Being hands-on, showing readiness to partake in ground-level tasks.
• Coordinating with the Store Manager for staff scheduling to ensure consistent store coverage.
• Driving to collect stock and fulfilling other related driving requirements as needed.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
• Extensive knowledge of various fish species, including marine, tropical, cichlids, cold-water, koi, etc.
• Demonstrable leadership and team management abilities.
• A proven track record in the Pet Trade, especially in Aquatics.
• Competence in customer relations and conflict resolution.
• Familiarity with all store products and the ability to guide customers effectively.
• Basic administrative and computer proficiency for handling online orders and inventory management.

Experience:
• Prior retail management experience, supported by references, preferably in the Pet Trade.
• A history of effective staff management and task delegation.

Educational Qualifications:
• A minimum qualification of Grade 12 or NQF equivalent.
• A relevant diploma or degree in Business Management or a related field is a distinct advantage.

General Requirements:
• Living in close proximity to the store.
• A valid driver's license with personal transportation.
• Availability to work 6 days a week, inclusive of weekends, with an allowance for one weekend off per month.
• A proactive mindset, exemplifying commitment and a willingness to get hands-on when necessary.

The initial employment contract will span a duration of 3 months. This period serves as an evaluation phase, given the demanding nature of the role and the steep learning curve involved. Successful completion may lead to a further extension of the contract.
