API Nitra-Zorb is a ready-to-use ion-exchange filter media pouch that removes ammonia, nitrite and nitrate from freshwater aquariums. It suits hobbyists setting up a new tank, or anyone whose established tank sees recurring toxin spikes. One pouch treats an aquarium of up to 210 litres (55.5 gal).

How to Use

• Rinse the pouch under tap water.
• Place the pouch in the path of water flow inside the aquarium filter.
• New aquarium, or when ammonia or nitrite is detected: recharge every 5 days for the first month, then every 2 weeks for the second month.
• Established aquarium: recharge every 2 weeks.
• When nitrate is detected: recharge every 5 days until nitrate is reduced to 20ppm (mg/L) or less.
• Replace the pouch after 2 months.
• When not in use, store the pouch in the recharging solution.

Dosage

To recharge, dissolve 4 tablespoons (80 g) of API Aquarium Salt in 8 oz. (240 ml) of warm tap water. Soak the pouch in this solution for 2 hours, then rinse lightly in tap water.

The pouch itself is 7 x 7" (17.8 x 17.8 cm) square. Once filled with media, the final dimensions are 7 x 6.5" (17.8 x 16.5 cm). It is sized to sit in one basket of a canister filter.

Will it fit a small or hang-on-back filter?
Yes. The pouch has no stiffness, so it can be placed in the back of a hang-on-back filter or in other sizes of canister filter. If your filter is very small, cut the pouch open and put part of the contents into a small filter sock.

Can Nitra-Zorb replace my other filter media?
No. It should not fully replace other media and is intended for temporary use only.

How is it different from Bio-Chem Zorb and Phos-Zorb?
Nitra-Zorb targets ammonia, nitrite and nitrate, so it suits tanks where these levels keep spiking. Bio-Chem Zorb removes more general pollutants such as colours, odours, heavy metals and toxic gases. Phos-Zorb specifically targets phosphate and silicate.

How often should I recharge it?
In a new tank, or when ammonia or nitrite is detected, recharge every 5 days for the first month, then every 2 weeks for the second month. In an established tank, recharge every 2 weeks. If nitrate is detected, recharge every 5 days until it falls to 20ppm (mg/L) or less. Replace the pouch after 2 months.

• Bob Box: Collect within 2 days of receiving your collection notification.
• PUDO Lockers: Collect within 36 hours of receiving your collection PIN or SMS notification.

If a PUDO parcel is not collected within 36 hours, it will automatically be transferred to the nearest PUDO Kiosk or Depot at no additional cost. The parcel will then be held there for approximately 2 days before being returned.
