Why Phosphate Matters on a Reef

Phosphorus is an important nutrient for the beneficial zooxanthellae algae that live in symbiosis with corals. Without it, zooxanthellae starve and die out. A healthy zooxanthellae population helps supply essential nutrients to your corals. An efficient filtration system, or overuse of nutrient-reducing media, can push PO4 too low. The result can be struggling zooxanthellae populations and imbalanced nitrate levels. This concentrated solution of pure phosphate is designed to correct that and keep nutrient levels balanced.

How to Use

• Test your nitrate (NO3) level first. The phosphate concentration an aquarium needs depends strongly on its nitrate level, so check NO3 before trying to raise PO4.
• Only use when the PO4 level is very low.
• Dose gradually until the desired level is reached.
• Do not exceed the maximum recommended daily dose.

• Add 1 mL to 100 L of aquarium water to raise phosphate by 0.01 mg/L (ppm).
• Maximum recommended daily dose: 1 mL per 100 L of water.

What is the maximum daily dose?
