Daro Bird Cage Sand Sheets

Daro Bird Cage Sand Sheets

Daro Bird Cage Sand Sheets are specialised sand sheets for bird cages that give caged birds a more natural, comfortable surface while helping you keep their home clean. Made by DARO from high-quality sand that mimics the ground found in wild bird habitats, they suit bird keepers across South Africa who want a tidier cage and a floor that encourages natural behaviour.

In the wild, birds spend time on natural ground, scratching, foraging and dust bathing. A bare plastic or wire cage floor offers none of that. These sand sheets bring a natural substrate into the cage in a neat, ready-made sheet format, so your bird has somewhere to dust bathe and behave naturally, and you have an easier way to manage cage hygiene. Used properly, bird cage sand sheets can contribute significantly to the health and well-being of captive birds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which size of Daro Bird Cage Sand Sheets should I choose?
Measure the floor or tray of your bird's cage and compare it with the sheet dimensions. Size 2 is 342x227mm, Size 3 is 406x266mm, Size 4 is 505x291mm and Size 9 is 500x500mm. Choose the size that best matches your cage floor.

How many sheets come in a pack?
It depends on the size. Size 2 packs contain 6 sheets, Size 3 and Size 4 packs contain 5 sheets each, and Size 9 packs contain 4 sheets.

Is the sand fine or coarse?
DARO describes the sand as fine-coarse and high quality, and notes that it is coarse and natural, chosen to mimic the substrate found in wild bird habitats.

Why do birds need a sand surface in their cage?
A sand surface gives birds somewhere to dust bathe and engage in natural behaviours. It also makes the cage feel more like a natural environment than a bare tray does.

Will sand sheets help keep my bird's cage cleaner?
Yes. The sheets are designed to help maintain cleanliness within the cage. They work best as part of a regular cleaning routine.
