Grech Pond Bio Pressure Filters with UV
Grech Pond Bio Pressure Filters with UV are compact pressure pond filters that combine biological and mechanical filtration with a built-in UV-C clarifier. They are made for pond keepers who want clearer, healthier water and better algae control in fish ponds and decorative ponds. Each filter improves water quality and supports a stable biological balance in the pond.
Key Benefits
- Separate biological and mechanical filter chambers remove both dissolved and solid waste more efficiently.
- A simple, quick handle cleaning system makes maintenance easy, so you do not need to open the filter and clean the foams all the time.
- The biological chamber enables rapid growth of aerobic bacteria, which break down lethal ammonia and nitrite.
- It copes with higher water flows than traditional gravity filters.
- The built-in UVC light controls algae.
- Inlet and outlet hose adapters come with the filter.
- The compact, dig-in design lets the pond technology almost disappear from view. All connections and the whole technology section sit in the top cover.
- Pond water can be pumped to higher-located waterfalls and returned to the pond from there.
- Used with a correctly matched pump, it helps keep the water clear and creates healthy surroundings for pond inhabitants.
How It Works
The CPF pressure pond filter series is a latest-generation design. It puts a high-performance bio-mechanical filter and modern UV technology into one compact unit. The UV-C clarifier works with the biological and mechanical stages to make the filter more effective.
- UV-C clarification: UV-C radiation alters the tertiary and quaternary structure of the algae's proteins, which destroys the algae. The algae clump into larger particles that the mechanical filtration easily removes from the water circulation.
- Biological filtration: During bio-mechanical cleaning, microorganisms accumulate inside the filter and remove germs and bacteria from the water.
- Mechanical filtration: Floating particles and dirt stay in the filter and do not return to the pond water.
How to Use
- Dig the filter in at the edge of the pond. All connections are in the top cover, so installation is straightforward.
- Connect a suitable pond pump and tubing (pipe) to feed water to the filter. Neither is included, and the pump's maximum volume capacity must be taken into account.
- If you want a waterfall, the pond water can be pumped to a higher-located waterfall and returned to the pond from there.
- Allow about 4–6 weeks for the filter bacteria to settle sufficiently inside the filter. Only then is it reasonable to use the UV-C pond clarifier.
- Starter bacteria can help shorten the time a new filter needs to start working.
Suitable For
- Garden ponds with fish, using the fish pond rating for the chosen model.
- Decorative ponds, using the higher decorative pond rating for the chosen model.
- Pond keepers who want filtration and UV algae control in one unit that can be buried at the pond edge.
Compatibility
- Needs a separate pond pump within the pump flow rate listed for the chosen model. The pump is not included.
- Needs tubing (pipe) to feed water to the filter. It is not included.
- Runs on 220–240V, 50Hz.
- Hose adapters: 3/4" and 1" on the CPF-2500, plus 1 1/4". The CPF-5000, CPF-10000, CPF-15000 and CPF-30000 add a 1 1/2" adapter.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to buy a pump separately?
Yes. A pond pump is not included, and neither is tubing (pipe) to feed water to the filter. Check the pump's maximum volume capacity against the pump flow rate listed for the model you choose.
When should I switch on the UV-C light?
It takes about 4–6 weeks for the filter bacteria to settle sufficiently inside a new filter. Only after that is it reasonable to use the UV-C pond clarifier. Starter bacteria can help shorten the time it takes a new filter to start working.
How does the UV-C light control algae?
UV-C radiation alters the structure of the algae's proteins, which destroys them. The algae then clump into larger particles, and the mechanical filtration removes these from the water circulation.
Can I use it with a waterfall?
Yes. The pond water can be pumped to higher-located waterfalls and returned to the pond from there. The pump you choose must be suitable for the filter's listed pump flow rate.
Do I have to open the filter every time I clean it?
No. The quick handle cleaning system means you do not need to open the filter and clean the foams all the time.
How do I choose between the CPF models?
Match the model to your pond volume, whether it holds fish or is purely decorative, and to your pump's flow rate. Each model has its own fish pond and decorative pond rating, listed above in both litres and cubic metres. If your pond is close to a model's limit, the lower listed figure is the safer one to work from.
