Description
Hikari Pac Attack 40g
Hikari Pac Attack 40g is a reptile food made for Pacman frogs, also known as South American Horned Frogs (Ceratophrys). Its sponge-like sticks soften in water to a texture close to live food, so it suits keepers who want a pellet their frog will accept without a range of separate products.
Key Benefits
- Formulated specifically for Pacman frogs, with a uniquely balanced nutrient mix.
- Sponge-like sticks soften rapidly when soaked in water, taking on the consistency of the live food most Pacman frogs prefer.
- Added calcium and the balanced nutrient mix support the immune system.
- Designed to remove the need for supplemental feeding.
- Avoids the odours common with competitive foods.
- Removes the need for multiple products to maintain proper form and sufficient food intake.
How to Use
Soak the stick briefly in water so it softens to a live-food texture before offering it. Soak for only a few seconds. Longer soaking stops the pellet staying intact, which makes feeding less efficient. If a pellet is not fully softened, digestion is not negatively affected.
Avoid overfeeding. Always remove uneaten food once the feeding period is over, to prevent water quality problems that can affect your frog's health.
Dosage
Feed according to your frog's body length:
- 3 to 5 cm (1" to 2") body length: every 3 days, 1/2 to 1 pellets.
- 5 to 10 cm (2" to 4") body length: every other week, 3 to 5 pellets.
- Over 10 cm (4") body length: every 2 weeks, 5 to 12 pellets.
Do not feed on consecutive days. The digestive system of Ceratophrys needs interval feeding for proper assimilation.
Suitable For
- Pacman frogs and other South American Horned Frogs (Ceratophrys), which favour a pellet with the texture of live food.
- Keepers who want a single food recommended as the everyday diet for Pacman frogs, fed at the intervals above.
What's Included
- One 40 g (1.4 oz) pack of Pac Attack sponge-like feeding sticks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to add supplements when feeding Pac Attack?
The added calcium and balanced nutrient mix are designed to eliminate the need for supplemental feeding, so you don't need multiple products to maintain proper form and sufficient intake.
How long should I soak the pellets?
Only a few seconds. The sticks soften rapidly, and longer soaking means they won't stay intact for efficient feeding. A pellet that isn't fully softened does not harm digestion.
How often should I feed a small Pacman frog of 3 to 5 cm (1" to 2")?
Every 3 days, offering 1/2 to 1 pellets.
How many pellets does a frog over 10 cm (4") need?
Feed 5 to 12 pellets every 2 weeks. A frog of 5 to 10 cm (2" to 4") gets 3 to 5 pellets every other week.
Can I feed my Pacman frog on consecutive days?
No. The digestive system of Ceratophrys requires interval feeding for proper assimilation, so keep to the feeding intervals in the dosage table.
What should I do with uneaten food?
Remove it after the feeding period. Leftovers can cause water quality problems that affect your frog's health, and overfeeding should be avoided.
