Description
Hygger Quartz Tube Aquarium Heater
The Hygger Quartz Tube Aquarium Heater is a double quartz tube aquarium heater with an external LED digital controller, built to keep saltwater and freshwater fish tanks, turtle tanks and small ponds at a steady temperature. It suits hobbyists who want a quartz heater with a clear temperature display, memory function and built-in overheating and dry-burn protection.
Key Benefits
- Double quartz tube construction, designed for stable, durable heating.
- Intelligent constant-temperature digital controller shows both the current water temperature and your set temperature.
- Switch between °C and °F directly on the controller, and set your target with the "+" and "-" buttons.
- Memory function: after a power cut, the heater keeps your temperature settings until the power is switched back on.
- Over-temperature alarm protection: heating stops automatically if the water gets too hot, with a flashing "HH" display and a beep.
- Dry-burn and leaving-water protection: the heater shuts off when it is exposed above the waterline, with a flashing "E1" display and a beep.
- Explosion-proof quartz heating element, high-temperature resistant nickel-chromium wire with silicon carbide thermal conductivity, and an ABS guard, for efficient, safe and long-lasting heating.
How It Works
- Auto heating: when the water temperature drops 1°C/1°F below your set temperature, the light flashes and heating begins. Heating also restarts whenever the water temperature falls below 34°C (93°F).
- Temperature protection: if the water rises above 35°C (95°F), the heater stops heating, the LED flashes "HH" and it beeps. It starts heating again once the water is 1°C/1°F below the set temperature.
- Leaving-water protection: if the heater sits 5 cm (2") above the water level, it shuts off, the LED flashes "E1" and it beeps. Heating resumes when the heater is fully immersed again.
How to Use
- Immerse the heater completely in the water. Do not bury it in sand or expose it to air.
- Install it underwater near the water intake, either vertically or horizontally. Vertical placement takes up less space.
- Keep the external temperature controller well away from the water, as it is not waterproof.
- Use a wave maker or circulation pump in the tank. Good water circulation helps spread the heat evenly.
- To stop the heater, disconnect it from the power socket and wait 15 minutes before changing the water or removing the heater.
- Clean the heating plate regularly. Impurities on the plate reduce heating efficiency.
Suitable For
- Marine (saltwater) and freshwater fish tanks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this heater in a saltwater tank?
Yes. It is designed for marine saltwater and freshwater fish tanks, as well as turtle tanks and small ponds.
What happens to my settings during a load-shedding or power cut?
The memory function keeps your temperature settings. The heater holds them until the power is turned on again.
What does "E1" on the display mean?
The heater is 5 cm (2") or more above the water level. It shuts off, the LED flashes "E1" and it beeps. Submerge it fully and it restarts heating.
What does "HH" mean?
The water temperature has risen above 35°C (95°F). The heater stops heating, flashes "HH" and beeps. It starts heating again once the water is 1°C/1°F below your set temperature.
Can I bury the heater in the substrate?
No. It must be completely immersed in water, not buried in sand or exposed to air. Placing it near the water intake, with a pump or wave maker moving the water, helps spread the heat evenly.
How do I choose the right size for my tank?
The range is specified for tanks from 5 to 280 gallons (about 19 to 1,060 litres). Pick the variant whose rated tank volume matches your setup, and check the user manual for details.
