Description

Neptune Energy Bar 632

The Neptune Energy Bar 632 is an aquarium power bar built as a power control hub for Apex-controlled systems, with six 240V AC outlets, individual outlet power monitoring and a built-in 24VDC power supply. It suits aquarists who want to switch, monitor and manage pumps, skimmers, UV units and other equipment from one unit.

Key Benefits

  • Designed from scratch for the new Apex, as more than a simple powerstrip, and shaped by years of customer feedback asking for a power supply for individual devices.
  • Six controllable 240V AC outlets, each switched by a high-current mechanical relay rated at 8A and for millions of cycles.
  • Independent power monitoring on every outlet, with a dedicated LED for each. The LED shows when the outlet is powered and flashes if there is an overload.
  • An internal 100W 24VDC power supply feeds three built-in 1LINK ports and two 24VDC accessory ports, giving 11 power connections in total.
  • Because the Apex receives continuous power consumption data, it can alert you when a device is not drawing power, such as a return pump showing no consumption.
  • It can also flag a change from normal consumption, for example a skimmer whose airline is clogged. High and low limits can be customised for each outlet, so you can catch problems as they arise and stop them getting worse.
  • Four AquaBus connectors leave three free for further modules or additional Energy Bars.
  • Protected by a built-in 10A circuit breaker. It carries UL certification and also meets CE safety standards.

How to Use

The Energy Bar 632 is not a standalone device and needs a Neptune Systems Apex Controller to operate. Plug your equipment into the 240V AC outlets, 1LINK ports or 24VDC ports. The Apex then switches each outlet and reads its current draw through specialised software, which helps you optimise control and use less power. Set high and low consumption limits per outlet so the system can notify you when a pump, skimmer, UV device or other piece of equipment is not running as it should.

Suitable For

  • Aquarists running an Apex controller who want per-outlet monitoring and switching.
  • Reef and marine setups where early warning on pumps, skimmers and UV units helps protect fish and coral.
  • Systems on a European-style 240V power grid.
  • Aquariums using 1LINK devices such as WAV and DOS, or 24VDC accessories such as small pumps, solenoids and fans.

Compatibility

  • Compatible with the ApexEL Entry Level Kit and the Apex Lab Grade Kit.
  • Requires a Neptune Systems Apex Controller for operation.
  • Not compatible with the legacy Apex Classic Controller systems.
  • Regional note: the EnergyBar 832 is for North America (USA, Canada and parts of Mexico) and other locations with 120VAC 60Hz power. In regions that use 230VAC 50Hz power, Apex systems are bundled with an EnergyBar 6 fitted with six region-specific outlets (UK, EU, AU or Schuko). Those EnergyBar 6 models do not include the per-outlet power monitoring, 1LINK or DC24 ports, or per-outlet indicator LEDs found on the Energy Bar 632.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the Energy Bar 632 on its own?
No. It is not a standalone device and needs a Neptune Systems Apex Controller to operate.

Does it work with the Apex Classic?
No. It is not compatible with the legacy Apex Classic Controller systems. It is compatible with the ApexEL Entry Level Kit and the Apex Lab Grade Kit.

What can I connect to the 1LINK and 24VDC ports?
The three 1LINK 24VDC smart outlets suit devices such as WAV and DOS. The two switchable 24VDC outlets suit accessories such as small pumps, solenoids and fans. All five run from the internal 100W 24VDC power supply.

How does it help me spot a failing pump or skimmer?
Each outlet is monitored individually and the Apex receives continuous power consumption data. You can set high and low limits per outlet, so a return pump with no consumption, or a skimmer drawing an unusual amount because of a clogged airline, can trigger an alert.

What does the LED on each outlet tell me?
It lights when the outlet is powered and flashes if there is an overload.

What is the maximum load, and is there overload protection?
Each outlet is switched by a relay rated at 8A, and the whole unit can handle a total of 10A. A built-in 10A circuit breaker provides protection.
