Description

NT Labs Swimbladder Treatment

NT Labs Swimbladder Treatment is a fish medication for internal bacterial infections that cause irregular swimming behaviour. It supports buoyancy and stability in both tropical and coldwater aquariums, making it a useful option for hobbyists whose fish are struggling to stay level in the water.

Key Benefits

  • Works inside the fish, targeting the bacteria behind the problem
  • Aids buoyancy and stability
  • Harmless to filter bacteria, so your biological filtration is not affected
  • Single dose treatment
  • Suitable for tropical and coldwater aquariums
  • Winner of the Water Treatments category in the PFK Manufacturers Poll 2019

What It Treats

Fish rely on the swimbladder for buoyancy and stability. When it becomes infected with bacteria such as Aeromonas or Pseudomonas, it can cause stress, which in turn could lead to death. This treatment is intended for internal bacterial infections that cause irregular swimming behaviour. It works internally to eradicate these disease-causing bacteria.

Symptoms to look out for include:

  • Lethargy
  • Clamped fins
  • Instability in the water
  • Hanging at the surface
  • Lying on the bottom of the aquarium

How to Use

  • Calculate the volume of your aquarium in litres: length x width x depth (in cm) / 1000.
  • Shake the bottle thoroughly before use.
  • Remove any chemical filtration, such as carbon or zeolite.
  • Mix the required dose of treatment with 1 litre of aquarium water.
  • Add the mixture slowly to the aquarium.

Dosage

  • 10 ml per 50 litres of aquarium water

Suitable For

  • Tropical aquariums
  • Coldwater aquariums
  • Fish showing irregular swimming behaviour caused by internal bacterial infection

Specifications

  • Active ingredients: Acriflavine 80 mg/100 ml and 9-aminoacridine HCl 800 mg/100 ml
  • Dose rate: 10 ml per 50 litres of aquarium water

Available Sizes

This treatment is offered in several bottle sizes. Choose according to the volume of your aquarium, using the dose rate of 10 ml per 50 litres.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this in a coldwater tank as well as a tropical one?
Yes. It is suitable for both coldwater and tropical aquariums.

Will it harm my filter bacteria?
No. It is harmless to filter bacteria. You should still remove chemical filtration media such as carbon or zeolite before dosing.

How much do I need for a 100 litre aquarium?
The dose is 10 ml per 50 litres, so a 100 litre aquarium needs 20 ml. Mix the dose with 1 litre of aquarium water and add it slowly to the tank.

How do I work out my aquarium's volume?
Multiply length x width x depth in centimetres, then divide by 1000 to get the volume in litres.

What signs suggest a swimbladder problem?
Fish may become lethargic, hold their fins clamped, be unstable in the water, hang at the surface or lie on the bottom of the aquarium.

Which size should I choose?
Base it on your aquarium volume and the dose of 10 ml per 50 litres of water. Larger tanks need proportionally more treatment.
