Pondmaster MKII Pumps with Fountain Kits
Pondmaster MKII Pumps with Fountain Kits are fully submersible fountain pumps for indoor and outdoor ponds, waterfalls, statues, hydroponics, irrigation and freshwater or saltwater aquariums. The MKII is the next generation of Pondmaster fountain pumps and builds on the quality and performance of the original. Each pump pairs with a fountain kit of three interchangeable head sets, so South African pond keepers and garden owners can create a water feature that suits their space.
Key Benefits
- Next-generation Pondmaster design: the MKII builds on the proven quality and performance of the original Pondmaster fountain pump.
- Three fountain head sets: choose a Mushroom Head, a Tier Fountain Head Single or a Tier Fountain Head Double to change the shape and style of your display.
- Completely submersible: the pump sits fully underwater, keeping it out of sight in ponds, basins and features.
- 10 m (32.8 ft) cable: gives you room to place the pump well into the pond or feature while still reaching a suitable outdoor power point.
- Compact design: fits neatly into small ornaments, wall fountains and tight reservoirs as well as larger ponds.
- Quiet and efficient: suits patios, courtyards and indoor spaces where pump noise would be a distraction.
- Easy setup: straightforward to install, whether you are building a new water feature or replacing an older pump.
- Wide model range: rated flow rates run from 1100 L/H to 9500 L/H, with maximum head heights from 1.4 m to 6.2 m, so you can match the pump to your project.
How to Use
- Choose a model by comparing its flow rate and maximum head height with the height you need to lift water. Read the selection notes below before you decide.
- Fit your preferred fountain head: Mushroom, Tier Single or Tier Double.
- Place the pump fully underwater in the pond, basin, reservoir or aquarium.
- Route the 10 m (32.8 ft) cable to your power point and switch on.
- For waterfalls, cascades, statues or irrigation, take your pipe size into account. Thicker pipe needs a more powerful pump to achieve good lift.
Important: Choosing the Right Pump
- The flow rate and head height listed for each model do not mean the pump delivers maximum flow at maximum height.
- At its maximum head height, a pump produces zero flow. The head height figure is the point at which the water stops rising.
- Pipe thickness has a significant effect on head height. The thicker the pipe, the more powerful the pump must be to achieve good lift.
- Always consider a stronger pump than your bare minimum to ensure optimal performance at the height and flow you want.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Pondmaster MKII model should I choose?
Start with the vertical height you need to lift water, then pick a model whose maximum head height is comfortably above it. Ratings range from 1100 L/H at 1.4 m up to 9500 L/H at 6.2 m. A pump at its maximum height produces zero flow, so it is best to go a size stronger.
Why won't my pump deliver its full flow rate at the top of my waterfall?
The rated flow and the maximum head height are not achieved together. Flow falls as the lift height increases and reaches zero at the maximum head height. Thicker pipe also demands more pump power to achieve good lift.
Can I use a Pondmaster MKII in a marine aquarium?
Yes. The MKII range is suitable for both freshwater and saltwater aquariums, as well as ponds and fountains.
Will it work in a hydroponic or garden irrigation setup?
Yes. Hydroponic systems and irrigation systems are both listed applications. Match the model's flow and head height to your system, and allow for the size of your piping.
What fountain displays can I create with the kit?
The kit gives you three head sets to choose from: a Mushroom Head for a smooth dome of water, plus single and double Tier Fountain Heads for layered spray patterns.
Is the cable long enough for a typical garden pond?
Each pump has a 10 m (32.8 ft) cable. This lets you position the pump fully submerged in the pond or feature while reaching a nearby outdoor power point.
