Description
Red Sea Coral Colors D Bioactive Elements 500ml
Red Sea Coral Colors D Bioactive Elements is a marine aquarium conditioner that replenishes and maintains optimal levels of 18 trace elements corals need for their metabolic processes. It is designed for reef keepers who test regularly and want to dose soft corals or SPS corals according to measured values. It comes in a single 500 ml bottle.
Key Benefits
- Replenishes and maintains 18 trace elements essential for the metabolic processes of corals in an aquarium.
- Supplies a complex of 18 trace elements, selected from all the trace elements found in natural seawater (NSW), that take part in metabolic processes inside a coral's skeleton and soft tissue.
- The D elements are related to the blue/purple chroma-proteins in corals.
- Supports a test-and-adjust routine, so dosing follows what your aquarium actually uses rather than guesswork.
- Has separate dosing methods for soft corals (weekly) and SPS corals (daily), so each can be dosed in the way that suits it.
How to Use
Dosing is based on testing the Color Elements and replenishing each one back to its optimal level. The routine depends on the type of coral you keep.
Dosage
Weekly dosing – soft corals
- Test the Color Elements every week.
- Dose each supplement to replenish its element back to the optimal level.
Daily dosing – SPS corals
- Make sure all of the Color Elements are at optimal values.
- Run the aquarium for 4 days at a stable salinity, compensating for evaporation daily, without adding any supplements.
- At the end of the 4 days, test the Color Elements and calculate the 4-day dosage of each supplement needed to replenish them back to optimal levels.
- Add the 4-day dosage to the system.
- Divide this 4-day dosage by 4 and use the result as the daily dosage for the next week.
- After a week of adding the daily dosage, test the Color Elements and calculate the adjusting dosage of each supplement needed to replenish back to optimal levels.
- If the adjusting dosage is significantly different from the previous daily dosage, amend (increase or decrease) the daily dosage as appropriate.
- If the measured level of a specific element is above the optimal level, wait for the excess to be depleted before restarting daily supplementation with the amended daily dosage.
- Continue testing all of the elements every week and adjust the daily dosages as required.
Ongoing Adjustments and Missed Doses
- As your corals grow, or as you add or remove livestock, the uptake of the elements in your aquarium will gradually change.
- Keep a logbook of the weekly measurements and dosages.
- If you miss one or more days of supplementing, add the complete amount that you missed, but do not exceed the maximum recommended daily increase for any of the elements.
Suitable For
- Soft corals in marine aquariums, using the weekly dosing method.
- SPS corals in marine aquariums, using the daily dosing method.
- Reef keepers who already test their water and want to keep trace element levels at optimal values.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does Coral Colors D Bioactive Elements contain?
It is a complex of 18 trace elements. These are 18 elements, out of all the trace elements in natural seawater, that take part in metabolic processes inside a coral's skeleton and soft tissue.
How often should I dose it for soft corals?
Weekly. Test the Color Elements every week and dose each supplement to bring the elements back to their optimal levels.
How do I dose it for SPS corals?
Start with all Color Elements at optimal values and run the tank for 4 days at a stable salinity without any supplements, compensating for evaporation daily. Then test, calculate the 4-day dosage and add it. Divide that dosage by 4 for the daily dose over the following week, then test again and adjust.
What if a test shows an element above the optimal level?
Wait for the excess to be depleted before restarting daily supplementation with the amended daily dosage.
What should I do if I miss a day of dosing?
Add the complete amount you missed, but do not exceed the maximum recommended daily increase for any of the elements.
Why should I keep a logbook?
Element uptake changes as corals grow or as you add or remove livestock. A logbook of weekly measurements and dosages makes it easier to see these trends and adjust your daily dosages.
