Seachem Prime water conditioner is a highly concentrated treatment for freshwater and saltwater aquariums, as well as freshwater ponds. Designed for start-up and routine water changes, it removes chlorine and chloramine while detoxifying ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.

Suitable For

Use Seachem Prime when setting up an aquarium, cycling a new tank or adding and replacing water. It is suitable for freshwater, marine and reef aquariums, and can also be used as a concentrated pond water conditioner. During cycling, Prime can help alleviate ammonia and nitrite toxicity while the biological filter develops.

Dosage

• Use 1 capful, equal to 5 ml, for every 200 litres of new water.
• Each cap thread measures approximately 1 ml for smaller doses.
• A 100 ml bottle treats approximately 1,000 US gallons of tap water.
• For exceptionally high chloramine levels, a double dose may be used safely.
• In a nitrite emergency, use up to five times the normal dose.
• If the water temperature is above 30°C and chlorine or ammonia levels are low, use half the normal dose.

How to Use

For best results, add the measured dose to replacement water before it enters the aquarium. Prime may also be dosed directly into the tank; when doing so, calculate the dose according to the aquarium’s full volume. A sulphur odour from the product is normal.

Compatibility

Seachem Prime can be used alongside Seachem Stability when introducing new fish or supporting biological filtration. For fish transport or quarantine, Seachem recommends using StressGuard. Reef keepers can use Prime without excessive protein skimmer activation.

How much Seachem Prime do I use for a 200-litre aquarium?
Use 5 ml when treating 200 litres of new water. If dosing directly into the aquarium, calculate the dose using the tank’s full volume.

Does Seachem Prime remove chloramine from South African tap water?
Yes. Prime breaks down chloramine and then binds the ammonia released during that process, making it non-toxic while the biofilter removes it.

Can Seachem Prime be used in marine and reef tanks?
Yes. It is suitable for fresh and saltwater systems and will not overactivate protein skimmers.

Will Seachem Prime change my aquarium’s pH?
No. Prime is non-acidic and will not affect pH when used as directed.

Can I overdose Prime during an ammonia or nitrite emergency?
For emergency nitrite detoxification, up to five times the standard dose may be used. A double dose may be used for exceptionally high chloramine concentrations.

Why does Seachem Prime have a sulphur smell?
A sulphur odour is normal for this product and does not indicate that it has spoiled.

Collection timeframes:

• Bob Box: Collect within 2 days of receiving your collection notification.
• PUDO Lockers: Collect within 36 hours of receiving your collection PIN or SMS notification.

If a PUDO parcel is not collected within 36 hours, it will automatically be transferred to the nearest PUDO Kiosk or Depot at no additional cost. The parcel will then be held there for approximately 2 days before being returned.

Please ensure you collect your parcel within the applicable collection period. Uncollected parcels will be returned to the sender, and additional shipping charges may apply should the order need to be resent.
