Discus (Symphysodon) belong to the cichlid family, Cichlidae. They are among the most sensitive ornamental fish you can keep and have special requirements in many respects, including their diet. Discus are also known as finicky eaters. They are often used to one particular type of food from their breeder. With gradual adaptation, though, they can usually be encouraged to accept other foods.

Discus have only a short digestive tract, so food should be given sparingly and should not swell in the stomach. Sera's discus foods are designed around this. They take on a meaty consistency in the water without swelling excessively.
