Description

Tropica 091 Tissue Culture - Eriocaulon cinereum

Tropica 091 Tissue Culture - Eriocaulon cinereum is a live aquatic aquarium plant supplied as tissue culture in a closed cup. It suits planted-tank keepers who can offer high light and CO2 and want a small, narrow-leaved, cushion-forming plant that flowers readily. It is more tolerant of medium-hard water than most of its genus.

Key Benefits

  • Small, very narrow-leaved plant with an almost cushion-like growth habit
  • More tolerant than most Eriocaulon species, so it will thrive in medium-hard water
  • Flowers very willingly after planting in the aquarium, and the numerous flower stems give it a unique appearance
  • Can regain energy after flowering and grow again from the base, given the right conditions
  • Supplied as tissue culture in a closed cup

How to Use

Eriocaulon cinereum needs a good supply of light and CO2 to develop, so it is best placed in a tank where both are provided at a high level. It is a rosulate plant with a slow growth rate. Flowering easily drains its energy, but with the right conditions it will gather new energy and grow from the base after some time.

Suitable For

  • Aquarists with medium-hard water. The genus Eriocaulon is usually adapted to soft water, but this species copes with harder water, which suits many South African tap-water supplies.
  • Planted aquariums with high light and high CO2
  • Hobbyists who want a distinctive flowering plant with a compact, cushion-like look

Water Conditions

This species will thrive in medium-hard water. Soft water will promote overall health.
