Tropica 101B TC Tissue Culture - Anubias Barteri Mini Coin LIMITED EDITION

Tropica 101B TC Tissue Culture - Anubias Barteri Mini Coin LIMITED EDITION is a live Anubias barteri aquarium plant that forms a dense cushion of small, round, deep green leaves. It suits nano aquariums in particular, and it grows best attached to rocks and tree roots. If you want a tiny, slow-growing, low-light plant for hardscape detail, this is a good fit.

About This Plant

Anubias 'Mini Coin' is a variety of Anubias barteri found at the Tropica aquarium nursery in Denmark. It is among the very smallest Anubias, and each leaf is smaller than a little fingernail. It is as easy to grow as its parent, so it does not need bright light. This is a limited edition release.

Key Benefits

  • Dense cushion of small, round, deep green leaves
  • One of the very smallest Anubias, with leaves smaller than a little fingernail
  • As easy to grow as the parent Anubias barteri
  • Branches readily, so it fills out into a compact cushion
  • Suits nano aquariums, and also adds small details to a larger aquarium
  • Can be carefully divided when it gets too dense, giving you new plants for elsewhere in the tank

How to Use

  • Attach the plant to rocks or tree roots, where Anubias 'Mini Coin' grows best.
  • If you plant it in the substrate, do not cover the creeping stem (rhizome). Covering it can cause the plant to rot and die.
  • Avoid bright light, as this plant does not like it.
  • If the plant becomes too dense, carefully divide it and place the new plants elsewhere in the aquarium.

Suitable For

  • Nano aquariums, where its very small leaves keep everything in scale
  • Larger aquariums, as a small-detail accent plant
  • Aquascapers decorating rocks and tree roots
  • Aquarists who want an easy, slow-growing plant that doesn't need bright light

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I plant Anubias 'Mini Coin' straight into the substrate?
It grows best attached to rocks and tree roots. If you do put it in the substrate, keep the creeping stem (rhizome) uncovered, because burying it can cause the plant to rot and die.

How big do the leaves get?
Very small. It is among the smallest Anubias, and each leaf is smaller than a little fingernail. The plant's height is listed as 3 - 10+.

Does it need bright light?
No. It is as easy to grow as its parent Anubias barteri and does not like bright light.

How fast does it grow?
Slowly. Its growth rate is listed as slow, and it branches readily to form a dense cushion over time.

What do I do if it becomes too dense?
Carefully divide the plant and place the new pieces elsewhere in the aquarium.

Is it only for nano tanks?
It is ideal for nano aquariums, but it can also add small details to a larger aquarium.
