Description

Tropica 132B Tissue Culture - Eleocharis Pusilla

Tropica 132B Tissue Culture - Eleocharis Pusilla is a live carpeting aquarium plant, grown by tissue culture and supplied in a closed cup. It is used to build a dense, low carpet of short leaves and suits nano-aquariums especially well. It is a good choice if you want a lush foreground without constant trimming.

Key Benefits

  • Forms a dense carpet in the aquarium once established
  • Short leaves (3-5 cm / 1.2-2") keep maintenance to a minimum
  • Particularly suitable for nano-aquariums
  • One of the most reliable species for creating a carpet
  • Even lower growth than the common Eleocharis parvula
  • Grown by tissue culture in a closed cup

About This Plant

Eleocharis acicularis 'mini', also sold as Eleocharis pusilla, is a compact cultivar with an even lower growth habit than the common Eleocharis parvula. It was given to Tropica by Thomas Barr from the USA. Its leaves stay short, so it forms a tidy carpet rather than a tall, grassy thicket.

How to Use

  • Plant the mini version in small portions to cover a large area.
  • Spread the portions across the foreground so the carpet can fill in. In a short time, a dense carpet will be obtained.
  • Give it good light. It needs light to perform optimally.

Suitable For

  • Nano-aquariums, where a short, low carpet keeps the scale in proportion
  • Aquarists who want a reliable carpeting plant that needs minimal maintenance
  • Foregrounds where a dense, short-leaved lawn effect is wanted
