How to Use

Installation requirements:

• Always mount the heater horizontally. It must only be mounted horizontally.
• The inlet side, which is the end furthest from the control gear, must face upward so trapped air can escape naturally.
• The unit is not waterproof. Protect it from rain, moisture and direct water exposure.
• Install the heater inline after all mechanical and biological filtration.

Pump and electrical safety:

• The heater must always operate together with a circulation pump.
• The pump must provide the correct flow rate and should be connected through a contactor, circuit breaker or other suitable electrical protection system.
• All electrical work must be completed by a qualified electrician or certified electrical installer.

Plumbing and air lock prevention:

• Air rises naturally and cannot be forced downward by water pressure.
• Run all outlet pipework vertically upward from the heater, or at a level that lets trapped air escape freely.
• Avoid U-shaped bends and downward loops, as they can trap air and create air locks.
• If air becomes trapped inside the heater, steam pressure can build up, internal damage may occur and the heater casing may eventually fail.

Backwashing a sand filter:

• The heater must be switched off completely during backwashing.
• Do this by turning the thermostat to zero, or by using a separate circuit breaker, delay timer or contactor.

Recommended protection systems:

• Include flow switches, fail-safe controls and pump monitoring equipment in the system.
• These protections help prevent damage or fire if the circulation pump fails, water flow stops, or the pump loses prime after a power interruption such as load-shedding.
• Regular inspection and testing of pumps is strongly advised.

Failure to follow the installation instructions may result in equipment damage or unsafe operation.

Can I run the heater without a circulation pump?
No. The heater must always operate together with a circulation pump that provides the correct flow rate: 180–200 L/min for the 2KW model and 200–250 L/min for the 3KW model.

Where does the heater go in my filter system?
Install it inline after all mechanical and biological filtration. Mount it horizontally, with the inlet side (furthest from the control gear) facing upward.

Can I leave it running while I backwash my sand filter?
No. Switch the heater off completely first, either by turning the thermostat to zero or by using a separate circuit breaker, delay timer or contactor.

Can I install the heater outdoors next to my pond?
The unit is not waterproof, so it must be protected from rain, moisture and direct water exposure wherever you mount it.

What size should I choose for my pond?
The model table lists a maximum pond capacity of 6000 litres for the 2KW and 8000 litres for the 3KW. The general guidance quotes up to 8000 L for 2000 W and up to 9000 L for 3000 W. If your pond is near the limit, go by the lower figures, or connect multiple units for a larger pond.

Do I need an electrician to install it?
Yes. All electrical work must be completed by a qualified electrician or certified electrical installer. Flow switches, fail-safe controls and pump monitoring are also recommended.

Collection timeframes:

• Bob Box: Collect within 2 days of receiving your collection notification.
• PUDO Lockers: Collect within 36 hours of receiving your collection PIN or SMS notification.

If a PUDO parcel is not collected within 36 hours, it will automatically be transferred to the nearest PUDO Kiosk or Depot at no additional cost. The parcel will then be held there for approximately 2 days before being returned.

Please ensure you collect your parcel within the applicable collection period. Uncollected parcels will be returned to the sender, and additional shipping charges may apply should the order need to be resent.
