Bubble Magus Mini Series Media Reactors
Bubble Magus Mini Series Media Reactors are compact, self-contained media reactors that fluidise a wide range of filter materials in marine and freshwater aquariums. They suit hobbyists who run a sump and want a well-engineered, cost-effective way to get thorough contact between their chosen media and the water.
Key Benefits
- Fluidises a wide range of filter materials, so the media and water make thorough contact.
- Works in both marine and freshwater aquariums.
- Self-contained design, built for use in a sump.
- Upper and lower perforated plates with fine mesh pads keep all but the finest media particles inside the reactor during regular operation.
- No central stand-pipe, so you can reach the bottom of the reactor quickly when filling and emptying media. This feature is often missing on reactors with higher price tags.
- Compact body that is easy to maintain.
How It Works
The pump sits at the base of the reactor and pushes water up through the media. The water exits at the top and returns to the sump. The upward flow keeps the media fluidised, which gives efficient, even contact between the media and the water passing through.
How to Use
- Place the reactor in your sump. It must be used in a sump or aquarium setup, because water leaves the reactor under gravity.
- Fill the reactor with your chosen filter media. With no central stand-pipe in the way, filling and emptying is simple.
- Keep the upper and lower perforated plates and fine mesh pads in place for regular operation.
- If you are using Bio Pellets, remove the upper pad. The perforated plate then allows the media to flush properly.
Suitable For
- Marine aquariums.
- Freshwater aquariums.
- Sump-based filtration setups.
Compatibility
- Designed to fluidise a wide range of filter materials.
- Bio Pellets can be used with the upper pad removed.
- Not suitable for use outside an aquarium or sump setup, as water exits under gravity.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this reactor in a freshwater aquarium?
Yes. It is designed to fluidise filter materials in both marine and freshwater aquariums.
Does it need to be installed in a sump?
Yes. Water leaves the reactor under gravity, so it is designed for use in a sump. It cannot be used outside of an aquarium or sump setup.
Can I run Bio Pellets in it?
Yes. When using Bio Pellets, remove the upper pad so the perforated plate can flush the media properly.
How much media does each size hold?
The Mini 70 has a capacity of 250ml and the Mini 80 has a capacity of 500ml. Choose the size that matches the amount of media you plan to run and the space available in your sump.
Will fine media escape through the reactor?
During regular operation, the upper and lower perforated plates and fine mesh pads prevent the escape of all but the finest media particles.
How easy is it to change the media?
The reactor has no central stand-pipe, so you can reach the bottom quickly when filling and emptying.
