Frontline Plus Cat
Frontline Plus Cat is a spot-on flea and tick treatment for cats and kittens from 8 weeks of age. It treats and prevents flea and tick infestations, and also controls Flea Allergy Dermatitis and biting lice. It suits South African cat owners who want one pipette to work on the adult parasites on their cat and on the flea life cycle behind them.
Key Benefits
- Treats and prevents flea and tick infestations in cats and kittens
- Controls Flea Allergy Dermatitis and biting lice, supporting your cat's comfort
- Suitable for kittens from 8 weeks of age
- Breaks the flea life cycle at multiple stages, not just the adult fleas you can see
- Kills adult fleas and disrupts the development of flea eggs and larvae, so they cannot mature into breeding adults
- A dual-action formula that stops new pupae from being produced
- Simple single-pipette application to the skin at the nape of the neck
How It Works
The formula combines two active ingredients: Fipronil 100g/L and S-Methoprene 90g/L.
- Fipronil targets the nerve cells of fleas. This causes disorientation and hyperactivity before the fleas die.
- (S)-Methoprene is an insect growth regulator. It interferes with the production and hatching of flea eggs and hampers larval development.
Together, the two actives mean no new pupae are produced, which halts the flea life cycle.
How to Use
- Carefully remove the pipette from its protective packaging.
- Snap off the tip of the pipette to reveal the medication.
- Gently part your cat's fur on the nape of the neck, between the shoulder blades, so the skin is visible.
- Place the open end of the pipette directly on the exposed skin. Squeeze firmly so the entire contents are dispensed onto the skin.
- For consistent protection, reapply every four weeks.
Dosage
- One pipette covers one cat or kitten weighing up to 8 kg.
- Reapply every four weeks for ongoing protection.
- For severe flea infestations, a more intensive plan may be needed. A second dose is recommended 2-3 weeks after the initial treatment.
Important Warnings
- Your cat's coat should stay dry for at least 3 days before and after application. This lets the product disperse fully across the skin.
- Do not use on kittens under 8 weeks of age.
- Do not allow recently treated pets to groom each other until the application site has dried. If they do, salivation may occur.
- Dispose of used pipettes safely.

Frequently Asked Questions
How old must a kitten be before I use this treatment?
Kittens must be at least 8 weeks old. Do not use it on kittens younger than that.
How often should I reapply it?
Reapply every four weeks for consistent protection.
What should I do for a severe flea infestation?
A more intensive plan may be needed. A second dose is recommended 2-3 weeks after the first treatment.
Can my cat get wet around the time of application?
Keep the coat dry for at least 3 days before and after applying it, so the product can disperse fully across the skin.
Does it affect flea eggs and larvae, or only adult fleas?
It does both. Fipronil acts on adult fleas. (S)-Methoprene disrupts egg production and hatching and hampers larval development, so no new pupae are produced.
I have more than one cat. Is there anything I should watch for after treating them?
Do not let recently treated pets groom each other until the application site has dried. If they do, salivation may occur.
