Hikari PraziPro is a ready-to-use liquid concentrate for fish keepers who need to control unwanted parasites such as flukes, tapeworms, flatworms and turbellarians in ponds, freshwater aquariums and marine aquariums. It is designed to work without negatively impacting your biological filtration, so it suits hobbyists who want to treat while keeping the filter bed working. It can also be used as a preventative when disease is likely.

How to Use

• Start every treatment or retreatment with as large a water change as practical (at least 30%), or start with new water.
• Condition any water you add first, to remove ammonia, chlorine and chloramines.
• Do not stop filtration. Do remove activated carbon, and switch off foam fractionation (protein skimming) and UV sterilisation. If you don't, the product will be rendered ineffective.
• Shake the bottle vigorously before use.
• Distribute the measured dose around the edge of the pond or aquarium, or add it directly into the filter box, for the best overall distribution.
• A single treatment lasting 5–7 days may be sufficient. Retreat only as necessary, and no more than once every 3 days.
• Do not use any other drugs or disease treatments during treatment.
• Temporary foaming may be noticeable.
• Use it any time unwanted parasites are noticed, or when their introduction is probable.

Dosage

• One (1) teaspoon (~5 mL) per 20 gallons (76 L) of water to be treated.
• Alternatively, one (1) fl. oz. (29.5 mL) per 120 gallons (454 L).
• This produces a concentration of 2.5 mg/L.
• Treat the exact amount of water in the system. Deduct the space taken up by substrate (gravel, sand and the like), rock or coral, decorations and any other internal equipment that displaces water.
• For an approximate volume, multiply the length x width x depth of the water area and divide by 231. The manufacturer's overdose warning quotes length x width x height divided by 238 to get true gallons, so work carefully and always deduct displacement.
• Do not overdose. Overdosing will not speed up the effect.
• Most parasites in the class that PraziPro® is used for have a life cycle of up to 28 days. For major issues, up to four (4) uninterrupted treatments may be required.

Water Conditioner Warning

• Do not use sulfur or sulfinite-based water conditioners with this product.
• If your usual water conditioner doesn't list its ingredients, check with the maker that it contains none of these.
• A rotten egg smell from the conditioner suggests these ingredients are present. Avoid it, as it could make the product less effective and negatively affect dissolved oxygen levels.

Compatibility

• Do not combine with other drugs or disease treatments.

Will PraziPro harm my biological filter?
It is formulated not to negatively impact biological filtration, so keep your filter running during treatment. Only remove activated carbon, and stop protein skimming and UV sterilisation.

How much do I dose for my tank or pond?
Use 1 teaspoon (~5 mL) per 20 gallons (76 L), or 1 fl. oz. (29.5 mL) per 120 gallons (454 L). Work from the actual water volume, after deducting substrate, rock, coral, decorations and equipment. The right amount depends on your system's volume, so choose the pack size that covers it.

How long does a treatment last, and can I repeat it?
A single treatment of 5–7 days may be sufficient. If you need to retreat, wait at least 3 days between treatments. Because these parasites can have a life cycle of up to 28 days, major problems may need up to four uninterrupted treatments.

Can I double the dose to work faster?
No. Overdosing will not speed up the effect, so stick to the calculated amount for your water volume.

Can I use it with my usual water conditioner?
Yes, as long as it is not sulfur or sulfinite-based. Check the maker if the ingredients aren't listed. A rotten egg smell is a sign to avoid that conditioner, as it could reduce effectiveness and affect dissolved oxygen.

Is it safe for marine tanks with corals and worms?
There are no known compatibility issues apart from systems culturing Polycladida flatworms and tanks housing feather duster worms (sabellidae) or delicate worm-type relatives. In marine tanks with lots of coral, or any heavily stocked aquarium, added aeration is suggested.
