The NT Labs Phosphate Test Kit provides a simple, easy to use testing kit for determining Phosphate (PO4) levels in both ponds and freshwater aquariums. The NT Labs Phosphate Test Kit comes complete with test tube and liquid reagents to provide accurate results for 40 tests.

Phosphate is found in fish foods and created through natural pond processes. Too much Phosphate can be a major pond problem, contributing to increased algae growth and should therefore me monitored regularly.

What is Phosphate?
Phosphate is a major nutrient found principally in fish food to help with growth, good bone formation and many other biological processes. However, not all of the phosphate will be utilised by the fish and will be excreted as a waste product. It can also be generated by the breakdown of other organic matter and is also often present in tap water. While phosphate is beneficial for life, it is only required in small quantities.

Why test for Phosphate?
Increased phosphate in the water column is often a major contributor to the growth of nuisance algae. At low levels, it is generally considered safe for fish, but should be monitored for algae prevention. Higher concentrations of phosphate can start to interfere with the mineral balance within fish.

What is the correct Phosphate level?
The ideal phosphate concentration should be as close to zero as possible. While some phosphate is desirable to aid with the healthy growth of higher plants, only trace amounts between 0 and 0.25 mg/L PO4-P are required.

What do I do if the Phosphate level is wrong?
In most instances, regular partial water changes with dechlorinated tap water should help to keep the phosphate low. Check the phosphate concentration in the tap water too to make sure phosphate isn’t being accidentally introduced. Duckweed Control is a liquid solution that can be used to bind phosphate.

No more waiting at home or at work for your delivery. Simply choose a collection locker or pickup point and collect your order when it suits you.

Delivery times to lockers and pickup locations typically range from 2–7 working days, depending on your location.*

Collection timeframes:

• Bob Box: Collect within 2 days of receiving your collection notification.
• PUDO Lockers: Collect within 36 hours of receiving your collection PIN or SMS notification.
• Pargo Pickup Points: Collect within 5 days of arrival at the pickup location.

If a PUDO parcel is not collected within 36 hours, it will automatically be transferred to the nearest PUDO Kiosk or Depot at no additional cost. The parcel will then be held there for approximately 14 days before being returned.

Please ensure you collect your parcel within the applicable collection period. Uncollected parcels will be returned to the sender, and additional shipping charges may apply should the order need to be resent.
