About the G6 Generation

The newest generation of EcoTech Marine's Radion range brings improvements in both light output and colour. It has a new LED cluster, a Hybrid Hemispherically Edge Illuminating (HEI2) optical system, and diodes that reach deeper into the UV spectrum. Many corals you know and love have been grown, or "coloured up", under earlier Radion generations, from aquaculture facilities to home tanks. Each generation has built on the last, combining proven results with greater ease of use. EcoTech Marine has also spent significant time developing and testing lighting programs, such as the popular SPS AB+, to get the best from its fixtures and from your corals.

The G6 pairs the new Hemispherically Edge Illuminating optic system with redesigned LED placement. The result is shimmer, superior colour mixing, even PAR, a very wide spread and adjustable hues.

Wide Spread with the HEI2 Optical System

EcoTech changed the primary lens on the LEDs so that it works with the geometry of the existing HEI secondary lens. This lifts the spread from an already impressive 110.5 degrees to 126.3 degrees. The wider spread also increases effective output, because light reflects off the aquarium's side glass and back into the tank. That reduces shadows and puts light on the undersides of corals, so you may be able to light a tank with fewer fixtures. The G6 has the highest average output of all Radions. It delivers even PAR across almost 1.2 m (4 ft) of coverage, and the manufacturer describes it as perhaps the most efficient aquarium light made to date.

The Blue Model

The Radion G6 Blue is even bluer than before. Adjustments to the diode mix and the addition of 395nm diodes give deeper colour intensity and increased fluorescence. You can tune the blue between actinic and crisp to suit the look of your tank.

For comparison, the Radion G6 Pro is the model seen in many public aquariums, aquaculture facilities and coral spawning laboratories worldwide. It uses a balanced LED mix with proven spectrums similar to the output of Metal Halide lighting.
