How to Use

Add SCAPE P directly to your aquarium water every day at the rate given under Dosage. Plant growth will increase over time. As your plant mass builds up, you may raise the dose of SCAPE P to meet your plants' increasing demand.

Keep phosphorus and nitrate in balance. Never dose more phosphorus than nitrates. Doing so creates an imbalance in the aquarium, which can produce favourable growing conditions for pest algae such as Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae).

For best results, carry out a 30–50% water change every week as part of your regular routine.

Signs of a phosphorus deficiency include:

• Dead patches on older leaves, which appear as the plant tries to reabsorb the nutrient from the leaf.
• Yellowing of older leaves. These leaves may also fall off rather easily.
• Green Spot Algae. Affected older leaves are prime candidates for this algae to grow on.
• No stunted or pale new growth. The symptoms resemble a nitrogen deficiency, but in a nitrogen deficiency the new growth is stunted and pale. That difference helps you tell the two apart.

To correct a deficiency, follow these steps:

• Immediately carry out a 50% water change.
• While the water is down, remove all dead leaf matter from the bottom of the aquarium.
• Once the aquarium is filled again, begin dosing SCAPE P as per the instructions on the bottle: one squirt (approx. 1 ml) per 50 L of water daily.
• Continue with a 30–50% water change every week for best results.

• As plants grow: the dose may be increased in line with increasing plant mass and demand.

The rate is 1 pump (approximately 1 ml) per 50 L daily, so a 200 L aquarium takes about 4 ml per day. You may increase this as your plant mass grows.

How long will the 500 ml bottle last?
At 1 ml per dose, the bottle holds roughly 500 single doses. A 50 L tank dosed daily would use about one dose per day. Larger tanks, or higher doses for heavily planted setups, will use it faster.

Can too much phosphorus cause algae?
Yes, if it is out of balance with nitrate. Never dose more phosphorus than nitrates. An imbalance can create favourable conditions for pest algae such as Cyanobacteria.

How do I tell a phosphorus deficiency from a nitrogen deficiency?
Both cause yellowing older leaves. With a phosphorus deficiency, older leaves also show dead patches, drop easily and often grow Green Spot Algae, while new growth is not stunted or pale. Stunted, pale new growth points to a nitrogen deficiency instead.

What should I do first if my plants show a phosphorus deficiency?
