How to Use

Add SCAPE Planted Aquarium - N directly to the aquarium water every day at the rate shown under Dosage. Plant growth will increase over time, and as your plant mass increases you may raise the dose of SCAPE N to meet your plants' growing nutritional needs.

Balance is critical in any planted aquarium, so SCAPE recommends a 35–50% water change once a week. The directions give 30–50% weekly for best results. This is not to remove fertiliser from the tank. Its purpose is to clear the waste produced by fish and plants:

• Plants and fish release hormones and waste into the aquarium water.
• A 50% water change simply halves the amount of these waste products, which keeps the system in balance.
• Fresh water also reintroduces minerals your plants need, such as calcium.

It is worth knowing the signs of nitrogen deficiency so you can act quickly:

• The plant loses some of its older leaves. It draws the nutrient content out of each old leaf, from the tip towards the stem, and then sheds it.
• New leaves may appear small, white and wilted. This is a clear sign of nitrogen deficiency in aquatic plant growth.

If you see these symptoms, carry out a 50% water change immediately, making sure you remove dead leaf matter from the bottom of the aquarium. Once the tank has been refilled, begin dosing SCAPE N according to the instructions on the bottle.

• As plant mass increases, the dose may be increased to keep up with the plants' demand.
