Tetra Medica ContraIck Plus is a freshwater fish remedy for treating white spot disease (Ichthyophthirius multifiliis) in ornamental fish. It also helps treat other skin and gill parasites, such as Trichodina and Chilodonella. It suits aquarists who spot white spot in a freshwater community tank and want a clear, eight-day treatment plan.

How to Use

• Read the instructions carefully before use and shake the bottle well.
• Make sure the aquarium is well aerated during treatment.
• Switch off any UV clarifiers and ozone systems.
• Do not filter the water through activated carbon or any other absorbent filter media during treatment.
• Where possible, clean the filter properly before you start.
• Do not remove any fish during treatment. Removing them would let healthy fish become infected by free-floating pathogens later.
• Dispense the remedy evenly into the aquarium in the amounts shown under Dosage.

Dosage

The treatment cycle lasts eight days:

• Day 1: 20 drops (1 ml) per 100 l of aquarium water. Do not feed the fish.
• Day 2: 20 drops (1 ml) per 100 l of aquarium water. Do not feed the fish.
• Days 3 to 6: No application. Feed as normal.
• Day 7: 20 drops (1 ml) per 100 l of aquarium water. Do not feed the fish.
• Day 8: No application. Feed as normal. Carry out a partial water change (30-50%). After the water change, use activated carbon to filter the water.

Repeat treatment is recommended directly afterwards, particularly if white spot disease persists. Any water discolouration comes from the active substance and will disappear after a few days.

How long does a ContraIck Plus treatment last?

How much do I dose?

Should I take the fish out of the tank during treatment?
No. Leave all fish in the aquarium so healthy fish are not infected later by free-floating pathogens.

Can I run activated carbon or a UV clarifier while treating?
No. Switch off UV clarifiers and ozone systems, and do not use activated carbon or other absorbent filter media during treatment. Activated carbon is recommended only after the Day 8 partial water change.

Do I feed my fish while treating?
Do not feed on the dosing days (Days 1, 2 and 7). Feed as normal on Days 3 to 6 and on Day 8.

Why has my aquarium water changed colour?
The discolouration comes from the active substance and will disappear after a few days.
