Hikari Ich-X is a fish ich treatment for freshwater aquariums, marine aquariums and ponds, supplied in a 473 ml bottle. It uses the well-known Leteux-Meyer formulation with a less toxic form of malachite green, so it suits keepers treating white spot (ich) in sensitive and scaleless fish such as Corydoras.

How to Use

• Always treat fish in a separate quarantine or treatment tank.
• Remove any activated carbon from filters, and rinse or replace mechanical filter media if needed.
• Do not stop filtration completely, as this can harm your nitrogen cycle.
• Before each dose, make a water change of at least 1/3, using a sulfate-free water conditioner. Daily water changes can speed up treatment.
• Repeat treatment every 24 hours, or as often as every 8 hours depending on how severe the disease is. Check the manufacturer's product data sheet for guidance.
• Continue treatment for three (3) days after all visible signs of disease have disappeared.

Dosage

• Aquarium (freshwater ich, ichthyophthiriasis, and marine ich, cryptocaryoniasis): add one (1) teaspoon (~5 mL) of Ich-X to 10 gallons (38 L) of aquarium water.
• Pond (ich, ichthyophthiriasis, in pond and freshwater fish): add one (1) teaspoonful (~5 mL) of Pond Solution Ich-X to 50 gallons (189 L) of pond or aquarium water.
• One (1) ounce (29 mL) treats 300 gallons (1,135 L).
• Do not overdose. Work out your tank's exact water volume by multiplying length × width × height (in inches) and dividing by 231 to get gallons. Then deduct the volume taken up by substrate (gravel, sand), rocks, decorations or anything else that displaces water.

Important Precautions

• Do not allow to freeze. Green crystals under the bottle seal or clumps in the product mean it has frozen and should not be used. Freezing can make the active ingredient lethal to fish.
• Do not use sulfur- or sulfite-based water conditioners with this product. If your usual conditioner doesn't list its ingredients, confirm with its manufacturer that it contains neither.
• A rotten egg smell in the product or water suggests these substances are present. Avoid them, as they may reduce the product's effectiveness and lower dissolved oxygen levels.
