Description

Pond Medic Ick Clear

Pond Medic Ick Clear is a pond medication for the prevention and treatment of Whitespot (Ichthyophthirius multifiliis) and other protozoan parasites on ornamental fish in ponds and large aquariums. It suits koi and pond fish keepers who spot the first signs of Whitespot and want a dosing schedule they can follow from the bottle.

Key Benefits

  • Used for both prevention and treatment of Whitespot and other protozoan parasites
  • Made for ornamental fish in ponds and large aquariums
  • Simple dosing rate of 1 ml per 200 L of pond water
  • Treatment on days 1, 3 and 10 is designed to break the lifecycle of the parasite
  • Helps with an outbreak that typically follows sudden changes in water temperature or stress

When to Use It

Whitespot is usually the result of sudden water temperature changes or stress. Use Ick Clear when fish flick and scrape against objects, twitch their fins, or when the parasites are visible. Whitespot shows up as white, sugar-like crystals on the fins or body of the fish.

How to Use

  • Stop feeding during treatment.
  • Calculate your pond volume accurately: Length x Width x Average Depth (in metres) x 1000 = litres.
  • Do not use this medicine together with salt or any other medication.
  • Switch off the UV sterilizer.
  • Shake the bottle vigorously before every application.
  • Remove absorbent materials such as carbon and zeolite from the system.
  • Check water conditions during and after treatment, especially pH, nitrate and ammonia.
  • Medications may reduce oxygen levels, so increase aeration with an air pump or waterfall.
  • Observe your fish during treatment and take appropriate action if they react adversely.
  • Scaleless catfish and certain other sensitive species do not tolerate this medication well. Use half the dosage on these fish.
  • When treatment is finished, re-seed the biological filter and allow adequate time before normal feeding continues.

Dosage

  • 1 ml per 200 L of pond water
  • 10 ml per 2000 L of pond water
  • Treat on days 1, 3 and 10 to break the lifecycle of the parasite
  • Use half the dosage on scaleless catfish and other sensitive species

Suitable For

Ornamental fish in ponds and large aquariums. It is not to be used on fish intended for human consumption.

Compatibility

Do not combine with salt or any other medication. Switch off UV sterilizers and remove carbon and zeolite for the duration of the treatment, as these can interfere with the medication.
