Seachem Flourite Dark Planted Substrate is a stable, porous clay gravel for planted freshwater aquariums. Designed for aquarists creating a natural planted aquarium environment, this dark aquarium substrate can also be used in any freshwater setup.

How to Use

  • Use Seachem Flourite Dark as an integral substrate bed for best effectiveness, or mix it with other gravels if preferred.
  • Although pre-washed, rinse the substrate before use if dust has developed during transit.
  • Fill the aquarium slowly to avoid disturbing the gravel bed.
  • Place a bowl in the aquarium and add water directly into the bowl, allowing it to overflow gently onto the substrate.
  • Initial cloudiness is normal. Use mechanical filtration, such as filter floss, to remove cloudiness. Seachem Clarity may be used to accelerate clearing.

Does Seachem Flourite Dark change the pH of aquarium water?
No. It is not chemically coated or treated and will not alter water pH.

Should I rinse Flourite Dark before adding it to my aquarium?
It is pre-washed, but as a natural product it may become dusty in transit. Rinse it if needed to remove residual dust before setup.

Can I use this dark planted aquarium substrate in a tank without live plants?
Yes. Its appearance is best suited to planted aquaria, but it may be used in any freshwater aquarium environment.

Do I need laterite or another gravel modifier with Flourite Dark?
No. Gravel modifiers such as laterite are not necessary.

Collection timeframes:

  • Bob Box: Collect within 2 days of receiving your collection notification.
  • PUDO Lockers: Collect within 36 hours of receiving your collection PIN or SMS notification.

If a PUDO parcel is not collected within 36 hours, it will automatically be transferred to the nearest PUDO Kiosk or Depot at no additional cost. The parcel will then be held there for approximately 2 days before being returned.

Please ensure you collect your parcel within the applicable collection period. Uncollected parcels will be returned to the sender, and additional shipping charges may apply should the order need to be resent.
